I Wore Beyoncé’s Go-To Setting Spray for 14 Hours, and in 99 Degree Weather

It’s no secret that I’m a very sweaty person, but I still love wearing a full face of makeup. So when I learned that Beyoncé uses the One/Size by Patrick Starrr On ‘Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray—which kept her makeup flawless even after performing for several hours in the pouring rain—I knew I had to try it for myself.

Not that I don’t trust Beyoncé and her makeup artist Rokael Lizama. As far as I’m concerned, they could tell me to douse my face in sewage water and I would. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that Beyoncé doesn’t actually sweat, at least not like I do. Plus, I feel it’s my duty as a beauty editor to put all viral products to the test for the sake of the greater good.

Galvanized, I made a plan: I would test the One/Size Patrick Starrr On ’Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray during New York’s record-breaking September heat wave, where it has reached 99-degree heat index and 89% humidity. Here’s how my makeup held up after 14 hours of sweat, sans a single touch-up.

8:30 a.m.: The beginning. My freshly applied makeup topped with One/Size setting spray.

I applied my makeup and sealed it in with the One/Size setting spray at 8:30 a.m. and immediately left for a work breakfast where I was busy and sweating until 10. We weren’t seated outside, but we were in a “green room” style space, so I could very much feel the heat and sun. By the time I made it into the office around 10:15, I was shocked to find that my makeup hadn’t budged at all. My hair, however? Well, we don’t have to talk about that. Like, at all.

I checked in on my complexion every hour or so and became more and more impressed as the day progressed. By this point in the afternoon, I usually would have touched it up since my skin is so oily. But my makeup was not moving.
