“The news that’s been reported relates to The Body Shop UK only,” said the Body Shop India at Quest Retail’s Group CEO Shriti Malhotra, Indian Retailer Bureau reported. “This administration process does not impact The Body Shop India as it is a Head Franchise Market. All our stores are open as usual! Customers can shop in our stores and online for their favourite products. The Body Shop stands out as the largest international beauty retailer in India, with nearly 200 stores nationwide and catering to 1,500 plus cities via our online reach.”

The Body Shop International’s directors decided to appoint business advisory company FRP’s Tony Wright, Geoff Rowley, and Alastair Massey as joint administrators for The Body Shop’s UK business. The restructuring will include store closures and a reduction in head office positions in the UK. The hope is that restructuring will secure the future of the business amid financial challenges.

“India is one of the top markets for The Body Shop globally, and our consistent growth reflects the popularity of The Body Shop and the immense opportunities we are tapping into,” said Malhotra. “The Body Shop India will continue to scale-up and focus on omni-channel expansion, while leveraging newer opportunities in retail, quick commerce and high convenience formats, so that the strong brand affinity built in India is well supported by easy and expansive access to our customers.”
