Fern Britton branded Gary Barlow ‘as dull as dishwater’ on Tuesday’s episode of Celebrity Big Brother as she recalled working with him.

Sitting in the living room with the gang, Fern, 66, began: ‘Gary, he wrote the music for Calendar Girls The Musical.’

Sharon Osbourne, who left the house at the end of the episode, interjected, ‘Oh, I remember. Yes – of course I do.’

Fern continued: ‘We went out on tour. He had no personality and he had to have this particular water and this particular teabags and particular blah blah…never touched any of it, of course.

Sharon summarised: ‘Disappointing’, and Fern agreed: ‘Very disappointing’ before finishing: ‘I’m sure he’s lovely, but he was dull as dishwater.’

An incredulous Ekin-Su Culculogu leapt to the defence of the Take That star, 53, and said: ‘Gary Barlow? I think he’s great.’

In 2018, Fern played Marie in the touring production of Calendar Girls along with Denise Welch and Lisa Maxwell.

Based on a true story, Calendar Girls follows widow Annie who decides to make a calendar featuring some of the members of the Knapely branch of the Women’s Institute discreetly posing nude.

They would also be engaged in traditional WI activities, such as baking and knitting, in order to raise funds.

Tuesday’s episode was an eventful one as it saw the departure of both Sharon, 71, and The Real Housewives of Cheshire star Lauren Simon.

Sharon’s departure was pre-decided as her husband Ozzy Osbourne, suffering from Parkinson’s couldn’t go on too long without her.

As she exited the house, Sharon was met with rapturous applause and her daughter Kelly, much to her surprise and excitement.

During her post-show interview, Sharon revealed she believed Ibiza Weekender David Potts was a gameplayer. She also shared that she wanted Strictly’s Nikita Kuzmin to win.

Fern continued: 'We went out on tour. He had no personality and he had to have this particular water and this particular teabags and particular blah blah...never touched any of it, of course'

She admitted she thought David had a game plan, but explained: ‘I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting to win. He’s so entertaining and funny.

‘He’s like a moth to the flame when it comes to the camera he knows how to turn it on.’

Sharon also shared she would like to see Strictly Come Dancing finalist Nita Kuzmin win the programme.

The former X Factor judge was a firm favourite amongst fans for ‘spilling the tea’ throughout her time on the show.

Often with her X Factor co-star Louis Walsh, Sharon laid into the likes of Simon Cowell, Donald Trump, and Ellen DeGeneres.

It was announced ahead of time that Sharon would be leaving the CBB house earlier than desired.

Sharon previously shared that she could only stay on the ITV series for a short period because of her husband Ozzy Osbourne.

The Black Sabbath frontman, 75, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019 – and Sharon is his primary caregiver.
