Super Tuesday in the United States has ended with voters in 16 states and one territory holding presidential nominating contests heading to the polls.

Donald Trump and Joe Biden, who are looking to hold the presidential slot for the second time, seemed to be the majority’s top choice.

More than a third of all available delegates for the Republican and Democratic nominations are at stake on what is the “biggest primary election of the 2024 cycle”, Newsweek reported.

President Biden and former president Trump maintained a steady lead on Super Tuesday as both candidates are projected to win all but one contest in their respective primaries.

Meanwhile, former United Nations US Ambassador Nikki Haley won her first GOP primary in Vermont, avoiding another Trump sweep and candidate Jason Palmer beat Biden in the American Samoa Democratic caucuses.

So far in the Republican contests, Trump is projected to win Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Alabama, Arkansas, California, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Colorado and Virginia.

However, Haley is projected to win Vermont with Republican contests in Alaska and Utah still awaiting results.

For Democratic contests, their leading candidate Biden is projected to win California, Colorado, Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, North Carolina, Texas, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia.
