All Elite Wrestling has reportedly suspended Sammy Guevera over an incident with WWE legend Jeff Hardy.

The 30-year-old wrestler is said to be off television for the time being in connection to a No Disqualification Match against the former world champion on AEW Rampage which was filmed on February 14.

During the bout, the 46-year-old veteran suffered an injury and it’s claimed concussion protocol wasn’t followed.

As reported by Fightful Select, Guevara ended up hitting his finisher on Hardy, which should not have occurred in line with the protocol.

As it stands, there are no further details on the length of the suspension or any other information.

There is currently no timetable for Hardy’s return, and no one involved has commented publicly on the incident or the fallout.

Towards the end of the match last month, Guevara hit a Shooting Star Press move off the top rope, and his leg was unfortunately trailing which led to it coming crashing down on Hardy’s head.

The match wasn’t stopped despite the incident, although the referee did immediately check on the former world champion.

Hardy was said to have been left bloody and disorientated by the blow to the head, and while neither star has reacted publicly, footage leaked online showed Jeff and his brother Matt sticking their middle fingers up at the younger star after the clash.

At the time, fans were quick to criticise Guevera over the brutal accident and its aftermath, with fan @3milebarajas ranting that he needed ‘to go back to training’.

‘You hurt our hero yo😡,’ fumed @antewats, while follower @arkangel784 added: ‘You almost killed a legend.’

Before the match aired, Guevara had shared a throwback photo of himself as a teenager meeting his childhood hero, but plenty of followers replied saying ‘you knocked him out’.

However, other people did come to the wrestlers defence, pointing out that there are risks whenever anyone gets into the ring, and sometimes injuries and mistakes do happen.

Despite news of the suspension currently being served, Guevara would later wrestle Powerhouse Hobbs on the February 24 edition of AEW Collision, while Hardy hasn’t been in the ring since the injury.

Hardy joined AEW in March 2022, having left WWE in controversial circumstances after walking out in the middle of a match four months earlier.

The incident meant WWE told him to go to rehab, but the wrestler – whose struggles with addiction have been well-documented – refused, later explaining that he didn’t think the situation ‘was that big of a deal’.

‘Evidently it was because honestly, it’s my history. The person I had to talk to every week, or every other week as far as after I went to rehab, I had to report to him, and I got so sick of that,’ he said on Talk Is Jericho back in 2022.

‘Because I felt like I had to do it to keep my job. I guess I could have just said, “Look, I am not doing this anymore,” but I felt trapped.’
