A sudden family crisis has forced Katharine McPhee to cut her Asia tour short. The singer, who has been on tour with her husband, David Foster, told fans on August 11 that she’d have to miss her final two shows in Jakarta, Indonesia, but didn’t give any further details.

People subsequently confirmed that their 2-year-old son Rennie David’s nanny died suddenly.

“Dearest Jakarta fans,” McPhee wrote in a statement posted to Instagram. “It’s with heavy heart I announce I have to miss our final two shows of our Asia run. David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us need to get back home to our family. Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return one day and perform for you all. Love, Katharine.”

Among the first to comment with their support was Foster’s ex-wife Linda Thompson, who wrote, “Sending you and David love, & hoping that everything is OK🙏🏻💜.” Fellow singer Nicole Scherzinger commented, “Sending my love and prayers for your family 🙏🏽❤️.”

While Katharine McPhee will not be performing in Jakarta, it appears the show will still go on. It looks as though Foster, who is a 16-time Grammy winner, according to Page Six, will still be on stage for the final two shows of the tour.
